Eight Gluons (2009) is a synthesis of eight short electronic works called Gluons. These so-called Gluons were commissioned by percussionist Olman Piedra to be played in between pieces to avoid the awkward silence during percussion setups. They function as miniature soundscapes that can be rearranged and 'glued' together. Each corresponds to an elementary particle. The Gluons chosen in Eight Gluons are Photon, Boson, Top, Lepton, Fermion, Electron, Quark, and Strange. Several of these Gluons can be heard on the CDCM label, Vol. 38.
